Kabuto helmets were traditionally customized according to the status, beliefs, and personal taste of the samurai.Distinctive ornaments such as kuwagata antlers, maedate crests, dragons, swords, and Buddhist motifs gave each helmet its own symbolic presence and identity.
Many of the pieces in our collection are inspired by historical Japanese craftsmanship and decorative traditions preserved since the Edo period.Selected works also reflect the artistic heritage of Takaoka, one of Japan’s most respected centers of traditional metal craftsmanship with a history spanning more than 350 years.
